REPERTOIRE

"CRADLE OF FIRE," a multi-media production utilizing dance, historical and contemporary music, and video. "Cradle of Fire" is a poignant tribute to the children dying in today's cross fire of prejudice and the haunting ghosts of the million and a half children murdered in the Holocaust of World War II. The action in 1990s America and 1940s Germany is conveyed through the personal stories of two teenagers and the effect of society's atrocities in their respective.


"AN AMERICAN IN PARIS," based on the film starring Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron to the music of George Gershwin. The dance follows an American as he experiences the sights, sounds, life and excitement of Paris in the early 1900s.


"BIRD OF PASSAGE," is a 21st century play "for now," utilizing video, film, special effects, original score, spoken word, song and dance. It is a full length work and illustrates the mantle of humanity's creative nature passed from an ancient cave dweller to a modern-day renaissance man. Original score by Christopher L. Stone.


"THE MIND'S EYE--YEAR 2031," a science fiction fantasy based on C.S. Lewis' Peralandra, is a full length work. An explorer of the future lands on the water planet Peralandra. Upon his return to earth, the gift he has been entrusted with is misused. Earth becomes a silent planet. The music is by Phillip Glass, Andreas Wollenweider with additional music by Christopher L. Stone.


"DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY," based on the 1930s sci-fi classic film starring Frederick March. The special effects create the illusion of a strange but fascinating visitor from another world. The music of Sibelius sets the dramatic tone of the work


"THE TRIAL OF SAINT JOAN," a multi-media production dealing with the trial, burning and ascension of Joan of Arc as a Saint. The music is Poulenc's Organ Concerto and Faure's Requiem.


"GALILEO/JUPITER/APOLLO," part one of the "Roadside Attraction Trilogy," a living study of Los Angeles Street Murals. Galileo/Jupiter/Apollo is based on John Wehrle's mural of the same name, a science fiction exploration into present technology as it relates to our future accentuated by video and holographic effects. Music: Phillip Glass, Andreas Vollenweider and Jean Michel Jarre.


"LIEBESLIEDER WALZER," late 19th Century Vienna is the setting for this romantic piece danced to the famous Brahm's Love Sonnets.


"THE COLLECTOR," derived from the John Fowle's novel, from which the film starring Samantha Eggar was made. The special effects of laser and black light help depict the inability of a man to decipher the difference between the butterfly and a girl he has captured and imprisoned.


"ROMEO & JULIET," staged to set forth the four meetings of Romeo & Juliet as relived in Juliet's memory after she wakes and finds Romeo dead--the Ball, the Balcony, the Wedding, the Bedroom and the Parting. Set to the Max Bruch Violin Concerto.


"SOMEWHERE IN TIME," based on the film of the same name, a compelling time travel love story of a contemporary man who falls in love with a woman in a photo from 1912. The music is John Barry's score from the film.


"SWING SHIFT," the music of Jean Pierre Rampol and Claude Bolling provides a humorous, playful setting for this jazz "swing" ballet.


"REFLECTIONS," is the effect of emotions reflected back to the dancers. The music is to the opera Thais.


"FEVER A LA MODE," a clarinet runs wild gaining control over eight dancers. Set to the Clarinet Concerto written for Benny Goodman by Aaron Copeland.


"NEO SPHERE," as in the Neo Classic pieces of the 1940s and 1950s, Neo Sphere derives its new shapes form the movements of the 1980s and 1990s to the sounds of Jean Michel Jarre.


"AMERICA," a special tribute created in celebration of the 1984 U.S. Olympics. Music by Neil Diamond.


"WALTZ," a celebration of waltzes set to the music of Johann Strauss.
